Compliant with the eIDAS Regulation
Our electronic signature complies with Regulation (EU) No 910/2014 (eIDAS), which establishes the legal framework for electronic signatures across the European Union. An electronic signature cannot be denied as evidence in legal proceedings solely because it is electronic (Art. 25.1 eIDAS).

PAdES digital signature
Documents are sealed with a PAdES (PDF Advanced Electronic Signatures) digital signature, the European standard ETSI EN 319 142 for signatures on PDF documents. Compatible with the client's qualified seal certificates to reach the level of advanced or qualified electronic signature.

Qualified timestamping
Every signature includes an RFC 3161 timestamp issued by a Time-Stamping Authority (TSA). This cryptographically certifies the exact moment the document was signed, preventing retroactive alteration and guaranteeing the temporal integrity of the signature.

OTP identity verification
Before signing, the signer must verify their identity with a one-time password (OTP) sent to their email address. This ensures that only the legitimate recipient can sign the document, strengthening the link between the signature and the signer.

Automatic re-sealing (PAdES-LTA)
The platform periodically renews the timestamp of signed documents before the previous one expires. This ensures the signature can be verified indefinitely, even years after the original certificate has expired.

Certificate of electronic evidence
Every signature generates a complete audit trail certificate including: signer identity, IP address, date and time, SHA-256 hash of the document, explicit consent and digital certificate details. This document constitutes documentary evidence in the event of a dispute.

Immutable document custody
Signed documents are stored under an immutable retention policy for a minimum of 5 years. Once sealed, the document cannot be modified or deleted, guaranteeing the integrity and availability of the evidence throughout the legal retention period.

Legal framework
Regulation (EU) No 910/2014 (eIDAS) — Establishes the European Union legal framework for electronic identification and trust services. Article 25.1 provides that «an electronic signature shall not be denied legal effect and admissibility as evidence in legal proceedings solely on the grounds that it is in an electronic form or that it does not meet the requirements for qualified electronic signatures».
Law 6/2020, of 11 November — Regulating certain aspects of electronic trust services in Spain. It transposes the eIDAS Regulation into Spanish law and sets out the obligations of trust service providers, including the retention of electronic evidence.
Law 34/2002 (LSSI-CE) — Spanish Law on Information Society Services and Electronic Commerce. It recognizes the validity and legal effect of electronic contracting and of the electronic signature as a means of evidence.
Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) — Personal data collected during the signing process (name, email, IP) is processed solely for the purpose of managing the electronic signature and generating the audit trail evidence. The signer gives explicit consent before signing.
Document validation
Every document signed through our platform includes a unique verification code so its authenticity can be checked at any time. Anyone can verify that the document is legitimate, that it has not been altered, and view the signature details (signers, date, document hash) by entering the code in our public verifier.
Document integrity is guaranteed by a SHA-256 cryptographic hash. Any modification, however small, would invalidate the hash and be detected automatically during verification.

Frequently asked questions
Is a signature made with the platform legally valid?
Yes. It is an advanced electronic signature under the eIDAS Regulation, fully admissible as evidence (Art. 25.1 eIDAS and Art. 326 of the Spanish Civil Procedure Act). Each signature also generates an evidence certificate documenting the whole process.
Does the signer need a digital certificate or an app?
No. They receive a link by email, verify their identity with a one-time code and sign from the browser on any device.
Where are the documents stored and for how long?
On servers in the European Union, with an immutable retention policy for a minimum of 5 years: once sealed, a document cannot be modified or deleted.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes. The signing page is responsive and signers can draw their signature with a finger on a phone or tablet.
What happens if the signer doesn't sign?
The platform sends configurable automatic reminders and you can see each signer's status in the CRM. You can cancel the request at any time.
Can I sign with my own company certificate?
Yes. You can upload your own seal certificate so documents are sealed with your organisation's identity, or request a qualified certificate issued by Uanataca from us.
